Row House Reboot

South End, Boston, MA

Awarded the first LEED for Homes in Boston, our design for this 19th-century row house integrates the original marble mantles and antique wood stairway with new spare interiors linked by curving walls and swooping plaster ceilings. To maximize "daylighting" the central island core for the new elevator and bathrooms lets light flow freely front and back, and on the top level, a glass hall floor lets the sun shine in and down from the new glass stair and hatch up to the green roof, where three light wells brighten the master bathroom two floors below and you can enjoy sweeping views of the Hancock Tower.
