Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Dorchester MA
We first collaborated with Pleasant Hill over twenty years ago, designing accessibility improvements to the handsome brick building erected by pastor Reverend Miniard Culpepper’s grandparents in 1941, leading a ‘charrette’ with church members to imagine a Family Life Center, and designing alternatives for multi-generational housing. In 2020 we helped church leaders secure a City of Boston Community Preservation Act grant for preserving the building envelope, reconstructing the symmetrical double stairway that ascends to the church and sanctuary entrance, and restoring the mid-century stained-glass, steel casement windows.
