The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health, Brookline MA

Founded in 1958, The Brookline Center provides affordable and comprehensive mental health care and social services to 4,000 adults and children a year. When TBC purchased the early 20th-century row house adjacent to their headquarters, they asked us to blend the two 5-level structures for accessible clinical and staff support spaces. An undulating wayfinding plaster cornice floats above new curving ramp, meeting room entry, and stairway, inviting ease of circulation between the two building’s unaligned floor levels. Reception, waiting areas, and conference room enhance the non-institutional tone, reflecting the elegant neo-Georgian façade in this residential neighborhood with soothing interior spaces that welcome people seeking help.
